We tested I Grappoli, a delicious Italian canteen with a bucolic decoration!

Surrounded by vines and ivy in a restaurant in the form of a wine cellar with exposed stone walls, we almost have the impression of having left Paris to take a detour to Tuscany… However, we are indeed in the capital, in the 14th district! This address that made us feel out of place was I Grappoli, and we tested it for you!

La dolce vita and traditional Italian cuisine

If you are looking for a real Italian trattoria where you can feel away from Paris for an evening, we have the address for you: I Grappoli! On a quiet part of Place Denfert-Rochereau, near Rue Froidevaux opposite a tree-lined square, one already has the impression of having set foot in a small Italian town, sheltered from the tumult of the capital city. And as you pass through the doors of this canteen in the 14th arrondissement, the Italian countryside opens up to us… Burgundy red banquettes, ivy and exposed stones, a pizza corner with a real imposing oven, and the promise of a traditional menu full of specialties of the Boot. As starters, classics such as a burratta, bruschettas, mozzarella fritters and assortments of Italian charcuterie and cheeses. In dishes, lovers of Italian cuisine will find what they are looking for with a selection of the best that Italy has offered us: pasta, pizzas and other piatti around a rich wine list and creative cocktails revisited at the Italian.

I Grappoli: our verdict

To discover this Italian menu, we turned to the two classics exported from the country’s gastronomy: pizzas and pastas. On a hand-kneaded dough, cooked to perfection in a wood-fired oven, fresh ingredients make up a pizza that can seriously interfere in the debate of the best in the capital. On the pasta side, casareccias wrapped in a delicious creamy gorgonzola sauce on a bed of pears and arugula and sprinkled with pistachios transported us straight to the other side of the Italian border. For dessert, a sumptuous panna cotta with mango coulis and a gourmet and creamy tiramisu come to close this Italian trip… After this culinary escapade, it is time to return to Paris, and we have only one desire: to leave our taste buds transport us again to Tuscany, Sicily or Campania.
