pizza stand robbers convicted

Tuesday, June 28, 2022, the Assize Court of Haute-Vienne sentenced the two men to 7 and 5 years, prosecuted for armed robbery in a pizza kiosk in Panazol, near Limoges.

On October 18, 2018, a man appeared around 8:30 p.m. in front of the pizza kiosk located in the parking lot of a supermarket in Panazol, in Haute-Vienne. He wants to buy a beer but has no money on him. He leaves immediately. A few minutes later, another individual knocks on the door of the kiosk. Part of his face is hidden, and he points a gun at the employee. He threatens him, insults him, and leaves with the money from the cash register: between 400 and 800€.

The target of the robbery, a young employee, has been suffering from post-traumatic stress since that day.

It was complicated, the months that followed were hard. Afterwards, I managed to get over it, I’m young, I have to live my life, but it’s true that it’s not easy to see them again.

Five days after the robbery, a first suspect was arrested in a Traveler area near Limoges. The man admits to being the accomplice, the watchman, and gives the identity of the main suspect to the investigators. The one who is nicknamed “The Chinese” flees, before being arrested, a month later, on another reception area in Cahors.

Monday June 27 and Tuesday June 28, 2022, while the two men appear free at the time of the trial, the main suspect still denies any involvement in this case.

“We are on a sentence of 20 years of imprisonment, therefore, we cannot rely solely on statements either from people prosecuted or from people who are not clear in the identification of the people who are made” Explain Master Jean-Christophe Romand, hasdefense attorney.

Maître Julia Benaïm, lawyer for the civil party disputes the position of the defence: “II believe that today, despite all the emotion that was his, my client, two meters from the person who robbed him, is able to recognize him.

This Tuesday, the verdict fell. The first man was sentenced to 7 years in prison for armed robbery. The second for complicity at 5 years, including 1 year with suspended probation. A warrant of deposit has been pronounced for the two authors.
